A Few Updates @ 04:55 pm
Just a few updates.
Sadly, due to RL issues and the lack of easy access to Internet, Brian has left the game. His characters will be put on hold now, and we honestly hope that things might get better and he'll come back.
Evy's been dealing with some family issues, not to mention the worst weather EVER, which has messed up the power at her house, but she'll be back soon.

Anole update! @ 06:41 pm
Hey Guys! There's a Tessa page about to go up, just to indicate the first response to some FoH activity. We'll only be doing an Alpha Team/Anole thread at this point; the Omega team is heading to Boston to rescue another FoH targetted mutant. (Omega team: Your mutant has family who can almost immediately offer shelter/safety, so he won't even be spending the night at the mansion.) Also: Vis a vis the pages, we have the option of making those more regular? We were thinking originally that only for calls-to-action that would be in some aspect played out on screen, but it might be worthwhile in terms of giving an idea of how active the X-men teams are--also giving the kids something to talk about, a sense of pacing, opportunities for you guys to play a one-off supervillain, the general sense of accomplishment, setting up the interest for more and more action-y threads...who knows, guys. Right now, it's kind of experimental but we're curious what your thoughts are.

The Game @ 03:09 pm
Our game focuses primarily on young adults of the Xavier Institute as they learn where they fit into a Marvelverse-inspired world, both as mutant citizens and as the mutant superhero team known as the X-men. The game also features adults and teachers living and working on the Xavier Institute campus. The physical center of the game is the Boathouse, a dormitory on the Xavier Institute campus for students and young adults eighteen and older. Most of the students living in the Boathouse once attended the Westchester Academy, a private school incorporated into the Xavier mansion.

Hi guys! It's Evy and I am back from my trip! My laptop is broken, but I live with a bunch of computer freaks so you won't see any less of me. At any rate! An update on the situation. In-game, because of an error on my part and the hope that it turns out fun and/or convenient, Easter is going to be in April in-game. ALSO! Kris's screen-name (KaisertsarKris) is not entirely his--apparently, because he's been using an internet cafe for his internet access, someone else has gotten his password/access to his screen-name. So, if you see him online--it might not be him. (THANK YOU to Marie and Erin for figuring this out and letting me know!) If you have any important mod-type business, it'll probably be more expedient to catch me on AIM (Shiinykaylee) or email me (evelynclaire(at)gmail.com) Once he's back, we'd like to do some chats with folks to get the gears going on plotnesses. As that stuff gets going, we'll be doing the final touches to get the doors and windows on, so we're ready for new players. I hope everyone is well! Have a great Easter!

Quick School Update, to be expanded upon throughout the week! Spring Break March 21-28 Easter/Passover Break April 21-28 Final Exams for High School Students May 5-9 Graduation for Seniors May 16 Graduation for High School students May 22 Parent's Weekend is SLIGHTLY up in the air pending some stuff we have to work out ICly, in terms of what precisely we want to go on, but for sure the following,: Parent's Weekend for Boathouse Residents and Students Engaged in the Advanced Training Program (ie, Parent's Weekend for our PCs) April 18-20 There will be catered dinners for one and all every night, some kind of outdoor barbecue event, a welcome meeting in the Boathouse, a brief tour of the common areas/q&a (probably with Scott and Kitty; if we could swing Doug and/or Rahne for this too, that would rock), trips into the city to see the various colleges, and anything else you think would promote "Good decision, sending your kids here!" We want happy parents, being social with their kids and with other parents, and people being well informed. Also, upcoming. Meeting with all students in the the Advanced Training Program, with Charles Xavier. It's high time for Xavier to discuss with the students whether or not they'd like to tell their parents about their involvement with The X-men. At this point, there is no evidence available about the teams identities before Dr. Strange's spell to protect their costumed identities--except to certain government officials. Unless folks have told their parents specifically, they would have no way of knowing. Xavier would like to discuss with the students what THEY would like to do as well as make his own gentle recommendations, but he is by no means going to tell them what to do. It should be an interesting thread to do and will probably take the shape of a casual, round table discussion that can drag on for a little while if need be--even if a character doesn't speak up, we can assume they were a fly on the wall for it. It probably won't be posting order, but we may do a "suggested tag" type format to give it some order in terms of conversation. Conveniently, if someone thinks of something they'd like to say, that's practically a psychic raised hand to Charles anyway. As always, make suggestions, ask questions, be fantastic. Let us know if there's a problem with anything!

Premise @ 10:12 pm
In 1997, Dr. Charles Xavier won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discovery of the X-gene, the genetic source of mutation. He retired from his position at Colombia University and soon left the States for Muir Island along with a good friend and associate of his, Erik Lehnsherr, a professor of physics at Columbia. Unknown to the general public, both men were highly powerful mutants. They were aware that there was a great deal of prejudice and discrimination against the newly discovered mutants in the world, but they decided to attempt to change things. The two men decided to begin by creating shelter and education for at least some of the visibly mutated; they began the Muir Island Academy in late 1998 without giving a moment to consider the more powerful mutants in the world that could pass for normal. It was September 11th that first woke them out of their complacence. The massive psychic trauma of thousands of sudden deaths created a psionic shockwave, which debilitated several mutants in the New York area and caused a number of peripheral casualties as terrified telepaths lashed out in pain. In the aftermath of this event, a law was passed mandating that mutants register with the government and Charles and Erik began to realize that they could not turn their back on the growing number of powerful mutants that needed assistance. It was for this reason that they established the Westchester Academy near New York City, supplementing their existing operation at Muir Island. The school rapidly established itself with the help of a mysterious device known as Cerebro and many new mutant students joined transfers from the Muir Island Academy in attending classes and learning about their unique abilities. However, the world remained a dangerous place for mutantkind and particularly, it seemed, for the students of the school. Soon they were caught up with the virulently anti-mutant Friends of Humanity, who only turned more violent when their leader, William Stryker was assassinated in 2004. Massive riots in New York personally threatened several students. The seemingly dire mutant-human situation created an ideological rift amongst the school's two founders and in time, Erik Lensherr left, eventually to seize the nation of Genosha and establish a mutant state there. However, in recent months, the promise of Avalon -- a national sanctuary for mutants -- has largely turned to ash, amid a bloody insurgency and a crippling economic meltdown. The students at the school found that they attracted the undesired attention of dangerous factions- including the powerful Hellfire Club and shady factions of the US Government. Already, the students have faced down the Hellfire Club; the Sentinels; and the Marauders, a band of mutant mercenaries assembled to murder the Morlocks, a peaceful mutant group in the city. Some of the student population has been infected with the mysterious and deadly Mutant Degenerative Virus, a disease which attacks them through their very genetic gifts. Though the world, both at large and closer to home remains a very dangerous place, the former and present students of the Westchester Academy have proven themselves equal to every challenge thus far. Many of them have become famous under code-names as teams of the 'X-Men', using their powers to help protect a world that remains a largely unfriendly place for mutants.
